Alyssa began her dancing career right here at Metuchen Dance Centre in 1984 at age two and a half and has not stopped since. While at Metuchen Dance Centre, Alyssa was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. Alyssa became a certifited dance teacher through the Dance Educators of America while still in high school. When she finished high school, she went to Rutgers University where she studied journalism. Her dance training at MDC enabled her to get accepted onto the nationally ranked and recognized Rutgers Dance Team. For the duration that Alyssa was at Rutgers, the dance team competed and came in 3rd and 4th in the nation. She was captain her senior year. Alyssa has also performed in MDC's production of the Duke Ellington Nutcracker as well as danced the role of "Clara" three times. Upon graduation from Rutgers, Alyssa began teaching first grade and continued to teach dance. She coached and choreographed Highland Park's Varsity Dance Team for three years. She also choreographed for Paramus Catholic's competition team which went on to win first place. Alyssa has been teaching for 16 years and loves getting the opportunity to inspire and touch so many students' lives. Alyssa currently lives with her husband and three children in Millstone.
