Rhiona began training at the age 3 becoming the youngest member of the pre-professional Colorado Jazz Dance Company at the age of 5 under the direction of Zetta Alderman (Urban Cowboy, Chorus Line). She is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, modern, ballroom, musical theatre and choreography; as well as acting, voice, stage combat and hip hop. She has performed for the Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration’s outreach programs as Gretl in the Sound of Music, Minnie Mae in Anne of Green Gables and Baby June in Gypsy. At 12, she travelled to Kiel Germany to the represent the US at the Regatta Arts Festival. She has also performed in the youth chorus for the Opera Theatre of the Rockies, has had feature roles in the Nutcracker Ballet with the Moscow Ballet, the San Diego Ballet and the Western Ballet companies and attended Arizona’s College Dance Conference for many years. For the last 8 years, she had the distinct privilege of spending her summers at the prestigious Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) in Tampa, FL as not only an apprentice but a junior intern, intern and staff member and has worked as a demonstrator for Vocal Arts Symposium under the direction of opera’s amazing Martile Rowland. Besides being mentored from an early age by world-renowned Ben Vereen, she has trained with some of Broadway, television and film’s best – Liza, Chet Walker, Chita Rivera, Luigi, Terrance Mann, Frank Wildhorn, Neil Patrick Harris, Dave Clemens, Pierre DuLaine, Frank Chavez, Sherry Zuncker, Melissa Thodos, Nancy Dussault, Jonathan Bernstein, Neil Patrick Stewart, Monica Raymund, to name a few; as well as studied with New York casting agents Jay Binder, Nicole Vallins and Broadway Producer and Lincoln Center President Jed Bernstein. In addition to the performing arts, Rhiona is a model who has appeared in numerous magazines, Marcea and Liberts dance catalogs and several books. Her latest endeavor being Jordan Matter’s “Dancers Among Us” and a Valentine’s Day Capezio ad.
